Research interests

My core research area is on applying optimization methods to large-scale problems specifically in healthcare operations management, medical decision making, production planning and transportation. My goal is to develop methods in convex and multi-objective models with uncertainty related to real-world problems.

This is my word cloud from my recent papers' abstracts.

My current research projects are as follows:

- A new multi-objective approach in Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is a widely-used external radiotherapy method, in which a piece of equipment called multi-leaf collimator is used to alter the shape of the beam. This equipment has a finite number of leaves, moving independently towards each other and shape the exposed field as an aperture. The treatment planning problem consists of: (1) selecting a delivery sequence of collimator
shapes, and (2) determining the optimal dose rate, i.e., intensity of the beam radiation.  In this project, we address the multi-criteria optimization in radiation therapy treatment planning, in which several objectives are taken into account, simultaneously. We restrict the maximum number of apertures in each treatment plan, based on requirements in practice.
